Nature Notes: October 11, 2007
Oh my! We went to the Apalachicola Estuary yesterday and we were amazed at the number of butterflies that we encountered ON THE ROAD! They were everywhere and of course, getting in the way of vehicles. It became a game for us as we tried to dodge the kamikaze butterflies.
In any case, it is considerably cooler today – approximately 21 degrees Celsius. We discussed turning off the AC at night. The butterflies are out en mass, as well as a nice variety of birds.
Red tide is in and the bay is covered with dead fish – the stench is horrific.
Fall is in the Air
may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on
the feelings, as now in October.

While we do not have leaves here in the beach, the changes in the air are definitely noticeable. The birds have migrated home (we were stuck with only Mournng Doves all summer), and the butterflies are out en mass. The weather is cooler in the mornings. It’s perfect weather to still upon the porch and contemplate all the beauty this earth has to offer.
