If you’d like to be entered in this drawing, please leave a comment and make sure I can contact you (i.e. do not leave an anonymous comment). I will select the winner on November 4th.

We have officially completed 12 weeks of education for this year and it’s time to take a much need break. We take one week off after every 6 weeks of instruction. While it may be some much needed downtime, we certainly are not idle. In fact, we have been to the zoo and are planning another field trip to the aquarium later in the week.

What do we do besides veg? I for one, catch up on email, articles, blogging and my own personal studies. We deep clean the main rooms of the house. I have a list of accomplishments I wish to attain this week. I’ll try to keep a running log of my progress.

1. Since I had to begin a new blog, I will try to find some time to go back and post at least 5-10 old entries.
2. Plan to implement weekly progress reports (and perhaps record what we have accomplished thus far).
3. Write 4-6 articles.
4. Catch up on personal studies.
5. Visit 10 other bloggers.
6. Finish reading An Oyster and a Jewel.
7. Finish reading Chaim Potock book.
8. Plan November lessons and activities.
9. Plan December lessons and activities.
10. Order books needed for next 6 weeks.
11. Preview Geography lessons and chosen living book.
12. Complete log cabin.
13. Post items on eBay.
14. Completely file all papers that are behind the couch.
15. Print out geometry lessons.
16. Now that the dogged-days of summer are over, re-establish exercise routine.
17. Play a game daily.
18. Read The Ransom of Red Chief for family fun night.
19. Finish sewing Harry Potter capes.
20. Maybe knit HP scarves to match … that’s a BIG MAYBE!
21. Enter giveaways and sweepstakes.

And Tiany over at Less of Me~More of Him is hosting a Holiday Homeschool Openhouse and Bloggy Giveway.

Touch

Many women will tell you that they value the sense of another’s person touch. Further, many women will also agree that touch is important, as long as it does not always lead to sex. It may surprise you to know that men value the sense of touch, too. You can begin by touch his back or shoulders as you pass by or by holding his hand while watching television. These smaller intimate moments will carry your relationship to a deeper level.

Touch seems to be as essential as sunlight. ~ Diane Ackerman, A Natural History of the Senses

Calvin Tells it Like it Is

This is for Cate.

This was possibly the first great Calvin and Hobbes strip. Childhood mischief had always been played out by assholes like Dennis the Menace and Jeffy from Family Circus. The difference is that those two were well-meaning retarded kids. It’s already been established that Calvin’s a smart kid, and here he is just wantonly being an asshole. To see a child genius sit there and nonchalantly bang the shit out of a coffee table is hilarious.
