Life Teeters Out of Balance

We are now just 5 days into the New Year and I am feeling overwhelmed. Honestly, I did not plan too much to change. But I did make myself a promise that I would remain organized.

So what’s holding me in a vapor lock?

Exactly one year ago today, my life changed forever. If you are close to me, you will know what happened. I think it was worse than losing our son to SIDS. 2007 has been a year of broken promises and sitting on pins & needles waiting for the other foot to drop kick me into oblivion.

I begin 2008 with great trepidation. Just keep smiling, I tell myself. It will all work out. I think what’s got me all knotted up is that I am taking 3 master’s courses and 2 certificate courses in an effort to prepare myself in the event something should happen … again. You know … that being drop-kicked feeling!

The resolutions to keep in touch with friends and family will have to wait as I attend to the needs of my family and at the same time, keep my sanity.

I am wobbling on the precipice of a 365-day marathon of blogging – after all, I am a wealth of witty information. But if I think about opening myself too much, I might lose my nerve and crawl backwards off the ledge!

How will I keep it all together?

Duct Tape

Yepper, Duct Tape is the best friend of many. We even use Duct Tape band aids that do not fall off!

That’s the plan for 2008.

In an effort to thank all of my loyal readers (and those of you who have clicked over here by accident), I am planning to have a monthly giveaway for the 2008 year. 2007 sucked for me – all year – so I am determined to make 2008 truly GREAT!

Yes, you read that right! Monthly and Giveaway are two words simultaneously appearing in the same sentence. But don’t keep it for yourself – spread the love to all your bloggy friends and cohorts.

Hey all you Barry fans! Barry has had my heart for so many years. My dream as a young girl was to marry that man. Well, my real Barry doesn’t sing, but he swoons my heart whenever he walks into the room.

Win Barry Manilow’s newest release, Barry Manilow: Songs From The Seventies.

What do you need to do in order to win?

1. Change the lyrics of the CopaCabana to reflect your own life and post it on your blog.
2. Link your post below in the comments box.
3. The winner will be chosen based on the most creative rendition.

Comments will close on February 2, 2008 and the winner chosen on the 3rd. Happy singing!

Two of America’s Great Minds Go Head-to-Head

Awhile back, I posted a YouTube video about Miss Teen South Carolina who obviously could not find her way around a map. It was televised nationally. Some of her supporters even tried (in vain) to support the poor gal.

Joeprah also blogged about this video but humorously added President Bush’s faux-pas. Here is your LOL (Laugh-out-Loud) for the day:

Go Get Scrooged!

I here today to speak my mind about the upcoming season. This is the watered down version of the major events. You see, way back when, Christians decided they wanted to honor Christ on His birthday (then thought to be December 25th, which we now know differently). Eventually, all this birthday stuff and celebrating caught on and what was once a Christian holiday (not unlike the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah), soon became a nationally recognized holiday. As the years passed, the Scrooges of the time began to resent December 25th as being a Christian holiday. After all, it was filled with wishy-washy sentiment, good food, and STUFF. The non-Christians wanted stuff, too! So now, they are pissed that they can’t have their own holiday to celebrate. They want to take over Christmas and rename a Christian holiday: Happy Holidays! That one phrase is so … so … so gay!

Basically what I am saying is that if you don’t like what the holiday is called, then just skip it and go to work on that day. But don’t slam those of us who treasure that day and all of it’s spiritual meaning.

Christmas is sentimental and ceremonial; if you do not like what is sentimental and ceremonial, do not celebrate Christmas at all. If you do not like the symbolism, you do not like Christmas; go away and celebrate something else. You will not be punished if you don’t; also, since we are no longer ruled by those sturdy Puritans who won for us civil and religious liberty, you will not even be punished if you do. Let us be consistent, therefore, about Christmas, and either keep customs or not keep them.

I’m not afraid to say it:

Merry CHRISTmas to All!

As for the rest of yous: Go Get Scrooged!

Rudolphus Nasum Rubrum

Reno erat Rudolphus Nasum rubrum habebat;
Si quando hunc videbas,
Hunc candere tu dicas.

Omnes renores alii Semper hunc deridebant;
Cum misero Rudolpho

In ludis non ludebant.

Santus Nicholas dixit Nocte nebulae,
“Rudolphe, naso claro

Nonne carrum tu duces?”

Tum renores clamabant, “Rudolphe, delectus es!
Cum naso rubro claro

Historia descendes!”
