I have decided to post our Year 7 notes, program and booklist based on Ambleside’s House of Education. As we progress, I will post notes and helps from one user to another. I invite you to add your own suggestions and experiences. You may view an outline of our weekly schedule here.

The Age of Chivalry by Thomas Bulfinch

Raw Food Journal Day 1

I have been dabbling in Raw Foods for the last 3 years, but have not been able to maintain consistency. One of my goals this year is the Pursuit of Excellence. It is developing the person inside and out. Change is scary. I can absorb change as long as it is short-term. However, the real test is in making personal changes that are reflected upon the permanent.

So, I am going to play a trick on my psyche. If I know that I can commit to doing something for a short period of time, and I know that I do not have to make any further commitments, then I purpose to commit to the diet for 30 days. If I can do it for 30 days, the change might have built up enough inertia to stick.

I wholly believe that certain diets are better suited for certain blood types. You can read more about it here. I feel better when I adhere to the diet that is designed for my blood type.

However, it’s the peer pressure that makes me crack. I give in and I feel horrible afterward. Not horrible in the sense that I caved; horrible in the sense that I literally feel SICK. Conventional food makes me ill. This I know.

So for 3 days, I am going to commit to going raw. Along the way, I will post what I eat and some of those nagging questions that non-believers have such as “it is not nutritionally sound.” Also, with the raw diet, you eat until you are full and you eat whenever you want. No calorie counting involved. So in case you want to know, “How much?” the answer is always, “As much as I wanted at that moment.”

Day 1
(note: I have not gone shopping, so I am limited to what I currently have on hand)
Breakfast: Mango and banana
Snack: Organic pecans
Lunch: Salad with cold-pressed olive oil

  • Baby Spinach
  • Carrots
  • Green Leaf Lettuce
  • Tomatoes

My Father’s World

Tamara over at Training Hearts has been such an inspiration and a blessing for me. She began a blogroll for users of My Father’s World curriculum. I have not used a packaged curriculum in quite some time, but because Dag and I are planning to change places soon, I thought I’d make life easier for him and start looking into the canned variety of curricula. I am not giving up my Charlotte Mason, as I believe it to be the most invigorating of the sort for my boys. But, I will be making notes as I go along and let you know how I’s successfully combined the two. I am using Adventures in My Father’s World for the little ones. Leave your link below so I can see what you are doing in your neck of the woods!

“It is out of the depths of true prayer than an individual rises to real heights.”
~ Prayer

Matthew 5
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
