Weekly Report 02/29/08

I have been a really bad mother/teacher. Slacking when I shouldn’t be. I take for granted the fact that we live in a place where portfolios are not required. However, I know from past experience that someone, somewhere, along the line will ask for one. I’ll be standing there looking like the total ignorant idiot that I can sometimes be – WHU? Whatchyou talkin’ ’bout, Lady?!

So here is our officially official report (subject to change as I remember the events of the week):

Pigpen worked with the spindle box this week. He experienced varying degrees of success with this work. Keep on truckin’ kiddo!

For math, he worked on becoming familiar with the concept of dimes and with counting by tens.

History and art brought a couple of worksheets to honor George Washington and his not so real cherry tree.

I truly think I am scarred for life. I have lived all 30-something years thinking there was, in fact, a cherry tree, only to come to the abrupt discovery that there it no cherry tree. Where the heck did the cherry tree story come from? Who is the wise guy that thinks it’s okay to lead people astray? I just wanna know …

All three of the littles worked on their calendar activities, and I might add that PigPen (the littlest) shouts out that there are 12 months in a year! Way to go!

Dennis and RocketBoy needed a little practice with tally marks. So they played a game. What better way is there to learn?

The concept is to roll a pair of dice, and whatever the sum is for the pair, that is what you mark down on your paper.

One of our many science experiments (an no, I am not talking about the refrigerator variety) was to discover why raisins danced in a carbonated drink.

All my little Einsteins worked on a sandpaper rubbing of Florida.

Random silliness …

What Time Is It?

I fondly … err … (notsomuch) reflect back upon those stressful carefree days while in high school. The Rah-Rah’s were cheering at the Friday night football game: “What time is it? What time is it? It’s time to win it’s time to fight it’s time to rock this game tonight!”

So why did I remember this, NOW? Because I happened to notice two different times displaying on each computer. One said 6:12 am (I know, horrendous time in the morning). The other said 6:08 am. So like the anal-retentive efficient person that I am, I hit the synchronize button which is “supposed” to synchronize the computer with the World Clock.

And do you know what happened? Nothing! Nada! Zip! Zilch!

They both claimed to be synchronized. Maybe the laptop is in a different timezone.
