Weekend Whatnots
The weekends just seem to fly by at a record pace. We took an impromptu vacation down to Orlando to visit Shrek’s family who happened to be vacationing there. I stayed up half the night to finish up some work, and then headed south on Friday morning. That night, we didn’t do much. We arrived around 3pm and then took a nap … YAWN! Then we went out to Black Angus for dinner and followed up with a dip in a chilly pool (not my favorite type of swimming). We settled down around 10pm and watched Hancock. The movie was okay, but I was really tired. I feel asleep right around when Hancock (who thought he was the only living superhero and also a drunken bum) was whacking a woman in the head when he realized that she, too, was a superhero like him. Apparently, they were made in pairs, but all have died because living together causes them to become weak. They eventually figure out that they cannot be in the same vicinity as one another in order to survive.
On Saturday, we all had breakfast together at the hotel (it was an expensive an icky and expensive breakfast) and headed our separate ways: They to Hollywood Disney and us to Aquatica. That is one cool water park. I think my personal favorite is the Roa Rapids (like a lazy river – but not lazy). I connected my life jacket with Daffy’s and together we “bobbed and weaved” our way through the river! It was a blast! We ended the day with dinner at Golden Corral an amusing escapade through a gift store and then back to the frigid pool. BTW, November 17th is Military Appreciation Night at that restaurant. Check it out!
Sunday, we skipped breakfast and headed straight to Busch Gardens. It was a great day. If you ever have the chance to go to the Brewmaster’s Club, I suggest you do it! I love the Wild Blue Beer. Excellent!!!
We completed the evening with a tour of Downtown Disney and pizza. Although, my stomach was a little sour, so I had a Fruit n’ Yogurt Parfait from McDonald’s.
Home on Monday!
Hump Day Happenings
So much to do today .. (when do I not have so much to do?)
I have my first pack meeting in several years – I am a little nervous. Gotta buy an astronaut costume for a Bobcat ceremony and possibly some Indian garb. And I need to sew on the patches. I can’t get the song Feel Good by the Gorillaz out of my mind. That’s about how I feel. Very fast paced – with purpose – taking down anyone who dares to get in my way.
Life on the home front could be better. I had a fender-bender the other night on my way to Turtle Watch. Needless-to-say, I never made it. I slid into a Lexus. She had a slight rub down while my van sustained major structural damage! The KIA has got to go.
Shrek and I are on the outs a little (the relationship ebbs and flows). He thinks he should be forgiven and I just don’t feel the same way – especially when he refuses to follow through with his promises. I think I deserve nothing less. I think he tries to make himself believe I feel differently and then acts shocked when he does something that sets me off — essentially, it reminds him that I have not forgiven him — and that makes him mad.
He has no right to be mad. He did this. He also chose to stay here. He chose to make that call to save his own butt in the eyes of his children — he didn’t do it for my salvation. All has not been forgiven, nor forgotten. I struggle with what happened every day (whether I verbalize it or not) that we stay here. At times, I still think something is going on. Why else would a person who professes to love another intentionally choose a place to live over that other person’s emotional well-being? I feel used … unworthy … not respected. Just simply hanging in there.
On to the rest of the day …
Weekend Whatnots
Another exciting adventure in our home this weekend.
I have been going crazy with all that I have taken on and have seen more sunrises than I have sunsets! We had our date night on Friday at but before that, had to install a shower head in a motel bathroom for a needy couple.

Then on Saturday, we participated in the Coastal Cleanup at St. Andrews Park with the Cub Scouts (of which I am now the new Cubmaster). The we spent an un-Godly amount of money at the Scout Shop – because as you now know, I am the new Cubmaster!
The boys rode the ATV for a while while friends and other interested onlookers wished they could be the ones riding the ATV (too much of a lawsuit risk).
We ended the evening with the movie Speed Racer and Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola Cheese sauce with Shrimp.
Sunday, was an uneventful day for me. I cleaned, cooked, worked on lesson plans, texted with my new found friends and family – while the little ones went to see Igor with Shrek.

Tink is working the Lobster Fest at Schooners and Daffy went skimming. All-in-all a productive weekend!

Weekend Whatnots
This was an eventful weekend, yet we did absolutely nothing!
For starters, I have an insatiable desire to change the world. I always try to help out my neighbors or friends, if I can. For one neighbor, I allow him to use our garbage can because he was laid off from work. For another couple (who incidentally are alcoholics), I allowed them to stay with us temporarily in order for them to have some time to get their finances in order. They had been evicted from their rental home across the street (and I later found out, from their last place as well).
Well, my landlord said they had to go … and wouldn’t you know it? They wouldn’t budge! DH was furious with me and with them. We had to physically remove them from our home this past weekend. How dare they jeopardize our lease and put our kids at risk? After this episode, I am seriously going to re-evaluate helping anyone. It seems people today are always asking, “What MORE can YOU do for me, so lift my burden of having to do anything for myself?”
I’m done!
We weren’t able to go to the beach, because of Hurricane Ike’s fury. The storm kicked up some hellacious surf. It washed all kinds of beach paraphernalia away. The teen boys had to save their boss’ equipment.
The teens went to two birthday parties on Saturday. One was fine – the other we weren’t sure about, so we checked on them twice while they were there. It just seemed awfully suspicious of teen foul play!
Daffy also repaired his gas-powered scooter, while Tink road the ATV. I cleaned. Yippee!
Finally, we had an impromptu birthday party for the boy across the street. He has CF and is a real trooper. His problems really make my own seem insignificant in comparison.

Friends
This came across my email today.
Friends are like butt cheeks.
Crap might separate them,
But they always come back together.
Ain’t that the truth!
