Hydrate for Optimal Weight LossWhen needing to lose weight, it is so very important to change how you think before you can ever change how you look. While “Lose Weight Overnight” claims seem tempting, they almost never provide long term results, they can be detrimental to your health and actually reverse certain processes needed to maintain a healthy weight. In short, fast will work against you and make losing weight very difficult to achieve. So, what should you do? Change one thing at a time, until it becomes habit.

This month, we are going to focus on upping our water intake and really hydrating our thirsty skin cells.

If you have dry and or itchy skin that looks like that of a reptile? Drinking more water can help being it back to life. Do you have a dry cough? Water can help soothe those lungs. Water clears out the impurities in your system.

Hydrate for Optimal Weight Loss

Do you think you are hungry? Before indulging in a snack or a meal, make sure you haven’t mistaken your body’s thirst signal for that of hunger. This is a common error. Have a glass of water and wait 15 – 30 minutes. If your body is still signaling for food after that time, then have a little something. Drinking water can’t hurt and you might not need to consume unnecessary calories. If you’re continually staying well hydrated, that false cue won’t happen. Another benefit is if you are drinking water, then you aren’t drinking sugary or diet drinks, both of which will derail anyone’s diet.

How Much H2O Should I Drink?

Everyone has heard the advice, “Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day.” But it really depends on several factors: environmental conditions, level of activity, age, gender, Body Mass Index (BMI) and weight. You are not a standard person and the amount of H2O you drink shouldn’t be, either.

Change Your Habits

You might have read that upon waking, you should drink 1-2 glasses of water. This makes a lot of sense. You haven’t hydrated your body in at least 8 hours or more. Your body craves something to drink. But if you cannot bring yourself to drink water before your Morning Cuppa Joe, that’s okay. Have your water at some point in the morning.

Another useful way to remember to drink another glass of water is to set a reminder on your cell phone. Some people prefer to sip water throughout the day, while others prefer to down a glass at once. Neither way is wrong.
