My 2015 New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year!

I have always written out a list of goals I’d like to accomplish each year. Some years are more productive than others; yet looking back, I have found that I have achieved 50% of what I planned to accomplish – those goals that I didn’t get to (or forgot about – or lost the motivational steam to propel me forward) generally occurred through default anyway.

So many successes and many bombs. But this year, I’ve decided to put my 2015 New Year’s Resolutions out to the public in a short video (Coming Soon!). I have found that making my goals public (even ridiculed – yes, that happens often – specifically, when a co-worker fell off her chair in fits of laughter after I told her I had missed my calling in life as a Monster Truck Driver – I really don’t see the humor in that? lol), I am held accountable. There are friends and family who are my support and my ‘kick in the pants’ when needed. There are also my virtual friends out there in the blogosphere who may be looking to me for inspiration. And then there are those whom some might call my frenemies … they want me to fail. I’m the type of person who will move mountains to succeed just  so I can watch my frenemies writhe in discomfort (but that isn’t always a good thing).

There’s an undeniable power in networking, reaching out for support, and being someone else’s anchor. So without further adieu …

MY 2015 New Year Resolutions

This year will be a year of laying the foundation for the life I want to live. I intend to live each day with absolute intention, live life passionately, clean up past obligations, re-energize my relationships (causing others to feel special with me, because they are special), set some family traditions, love my work, improve my physical (exercise) and emotional well-being (Pancakes for the Soul: enjoying life in small bites – laughing), and serve my community.

Thoughts Become Things … Choose the Good Ones!

Notice for each goal that I wasn’t vague.

For example, I didn’t say I want to lose weight. Also, I did not define a particular weight. There are too many factors that could prevent me from reaching a goal of losing weight and that could lead to a sense of failure. And, my happiness does not hinge upon a number.

Being fit and eating the right foods will bring me to the desired goal of overall physical well-being. A number on the scale does not matter. Defining myself as an athlete, does matter.

Big Goal #3, is especially meaningful to me. In 2014, my goal was to continue working in the field that I loathed to get to a place where I wanted (“Do only those things I really believe I need to do, in order to keep life moving along the way it is, and do everything else I really want to do that I can cram into a day.” ~ Bashar). It did not happen until I embraced the job I loathed and began to think of why I actually liked the work I was doing, and the 2nd thing was that I used astrology to help me time when to activate my goal of stepping into my dream job. And IT WORKED! I was able to quit my unfulfilling job at the end of 2014 and move into this job that I have currently beginning in January 2015. I have taken an enormous pay cut. However, I feel living my life’s calling is more important than a fatter wallet.

I’ve listed 16 commitments that I plan on showing up for throughout the first quarter in 2015. I will post updates and blog about the progress of each goal, along with the steps I took to achieve each one.

I’m excited for this next chapter in my life.

Pancakes for the Soul, is my tapestry – my work of art – my masterpiece. And through it, I hope to inspire others to develop the courage to design life the way they envision it to be,  and to master the skills needed that will take them on that journey.

Tell me:

1) What are your goals for the New Year?

2) How to you hold yourself accountable?

3) How successful have you been in keeping those commitments to yourself?

Here’s to a prosperous 2015!
